Something About MyselfMy love for jigs and reels came at an early age. My father was a fiddler who played dances in Nova Scotia. My father and his 5 brothers came to West Warwick, RI from Nova Scotia and started a construction company in the 1930's. I started carpentry at 16 and worked with him into my 20's. When he retired, I took over the business, where I honed my skills in finish carpentry. I ran my own business for 20 years. Then a designer and builder offered me the chance to do strictly high-end cabinet work -- stairways, kitchens, entertainment units -- which I am still doing. One day I got the urge to make a fiddle, and love handcrafting them. Now I've gotten word from my wife -- please sell some, we are out of shelf space. It is hard to part with labors of love, but the time has come, so here's what I have for sale. |
