GET REEL!'s banjo, fiddle, guitar and harmonica players crank out old-timey southern reels for contra dances. Sometimes there's also vocals, a stand-up bass, and Howie's "Caryl-Ann's Waltz" on piano. Martin Grosswendt, our fiddler, is a multi-talented musician who also plays guitar, bass guitar, banjo and concertina. Howie Bursen's style, talent and virtuosity on banjo adds a sound of its own to our tunes. His vocals, piano and guitar make for a nice change up. Marie Malchodi, guitar, is Martin's wife and mother of their twin daughters, Sophia and Lydia. Somehow, she finds time for all our gigs. And then, there's me, Deck Nieforth, playing harmonica, spoons and fiddle. The mix makes for a clear beat for the dancers to follow. We have been playing together about 7 years now, and friends even longer. Saturday, March 28 (NOT 14) 2009
